FROM: Handwritten note by Ethel
I don't know if these were poems she remembered or what.

AGE
How I know that my youth is all spent
Well, my get up an go has got up and went,
But in spite of it all I am able to grin,
When I think of all the places my get up has been.

Old age is golden, so I have heard said
But I sometimes wonder as I hop into bed.
With my ears in a drawer, my teeth in a cup and
My eyes on the table 'till I wake up.

Were sleep dims my eyes I say to myself,
Is there anything else I can lay on the shelf?
And am happy to say, as I close the door
My friends are the same perhaps even more.

When I was a young thing my slippers were red,
I could kick up my heels as high as my head.
Now when I'm older my slippers are blue
But still I can dance the whole night through.

Now I am still older my slippers are black
I walk to the store and pff my way back.
The reason I know my youth is all spent.
My Get up and go has got up and went.

But I really don't mind when i think with a grin
Of all the grand places my get up has been.
Since I have retired from life's competition
I busy myself with complete repetition.

I get up each morning and dust off my wits
Pick up the paper and read the obits
If my name is missing I know I'm not dead
So I eat a good breakfast and go back to bed.

WHO THREW THE OVERALLS IN MISTRESS MURPHY"S CHOWDER
Mistress Murphy gave a party about a week ago. Everything was plentyful, the Murphy's they're not slow. They treated us like gentlemen; we triedto act the same and only for what happened it was an awful shame. WhenMrs. Murphy dished the chowder out she fainted on the spot, she found apair of overalls at the bottom of the pot. Then Nolan, he got rippingmad, his eyes were bulging out, he jumped upon the piano and loudly hedid shout:
(chorus) Who threw the overalls in Mistress Murphy's chowder. Nobodyspoke so he hollared all the lowder. It's an irish trick that true, I canlike the mick that threw the overalls in Mistress Murphy's chowder.

The dragged the pants from out the soup and laid them on the floor. Eachman swore on his life he'd ne'er seen them before. They were plasteredup with Mortor and were worn at the knee, they had their many ups anddowns as we could plainly see. When Mistress Murphy she came to shebegan to cry and pout, she had tem in the wash that day and forgot totake them out. Then Nolan neexcused himself for what he said thatnight, so we put music to the words and sang with all our might: (chorus)
