V. 2 p. 164-5 Arthur a well-known and well-to-do farmer of Amo Township is a native ofIowa, born in Clinton County Oct. 25, 1863. Reared on the paternal farm, earlybegan farming for himself and after awhile located on a farm in Cherokee county. Married in 1890 and in 1895 disposed of his farming interests in Iowa andcame to MN. Bought a farm of 150 acres in Amo township. There his familyhas made their home being pleasantly and comfortably situated. Mr. Swartzis an excellent farmer and his place is well improved and profitablycultivated, ho long having been recognized as one of the substantial farmers in thatsection of the county. Married Lizzie Springer 1890. 8 children: Earl H, Mabel A,Ethel M, Bessie A, Lewis M, Willis C, Coral and Angie Iris Zaida.
FROM: Windom Citizen May 3, 1922 L.A. Swartz, residing southwest of town, died at 3 o'clock on Thursdaymorning, after a lingering illness. He was born and raised in Iowa and came tominnesota about twenty-five years ago, settling on the farm where thefamily now resides. He leaves a wife and eight children to mourn hisloss. The funeral was held from the M.E. church at 2 o'clock on Saturdayafternoon, and the remains were laid to rest in the Jeffers cemetary. The community sympathize with the bereaved ones.
FROM Cottonwood County Citizen May 3, 1922 Lue Swartz passed away Thursday morning at 3 o'clock and the funeral heldin Jeffers at the M.E. Church. He was laid to rest in that cemetary. Manyfriends sympathize with them in their bereavement.
FROM OBITUARY IN PAPER A.L. Swartz laid to rest. A. L. Swartz, a resident of Amo Township fortwenty eight years, passed away at this home last Thursday morning. The cause ofhis death was a complication of dropsy and diabetes which was preceded by apartial stroke of paralysis. Mr. Swartz was a man who numbered his friends by his acquaintances, he was at all times ready to lend a helping hand to aneighbor or friend who was less fortunate than himself, a man who was at all timeskind and considerate of his family and his passing has caused deep sorrow inthe community. Hundreds of friends and neighbors gathered to pay their lasttribute to a true friend on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 at which time the funeral services were held at the Methodist Church and conducted by Rev. PaulGrove. Burial was made in the Jeffers Cemetary. Arthur Lewis Swartz was born in Clinton County, Iowa October 25, 1863 anddied April 27, 1922 at 3 am. He went to Ida County, Iowa with his father in1888 at this place he was united in marriage to Lizzie Springer, July 27, 1890.in the year 1894 they came to Cottonwood County where he has since made his home. To this union 8 children were born, Earl, Mrs. Mable Noble, Mrs EthelSmith, Bessie, Louis, Claire, Coral and Iris at home. He also leaves seven grandchildren and three brothers: George of Boyer, Iowa, Will of Tipton,Iowa and Burdett of Sioux Falls and one brother-in-law, E P Keith of Ida Grove, Iowa. Mrs Keith, sister of the deceased died some years ago. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr & Mrs GeorgeSwartz and son George and daughter Mrs. George Maynard of Boyer, Iowa. E P Keith ofIda Grove, Iowa and Burdett Swartz from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
FROM: Handwritten note by Coral Swartz Arthur had a stroke 1915 diabetic. Really a sick man until he died April1922. Lewis had to do the farming. Coral said life may have been tough but they didn't know it. She said Clair was named Willis Clair but a hired handcalled him Willie so Arthur said call him Clair.
FROM: Handwritten note by Ethel I remember my father Arthur Louis Swartz reciting this piece when I was akid. Mary's eyes were bruised with tears, Mary's heart was sick with loss; Mary prayed with her dear son Kneeling by a wooden cross.
Mary knew a blessed peace, When the agony was through but another grieved till death Judas had a mother, too.
