Obituary of Helen Jewell Martinson Jacobus Clements w/ photo Bellingham Herald Bellingham, Whatcom Co., Washington July 21, 1992 Helen Clements, former county resident Former Whatcom resident Helen Jewell Martinson Jacobus Clements, 82, of Vancouver, Wash., died Wednesday, July 15, 1992, in a rest home, in Vancouver, Wash. She was born in Spokane on Aug. 10, 1909, to Albert and Ada Martinson. While she was an infant they homesteaded in Fleet, Alberta, Canada. She was the eldest of 10 children and the family moved to Blaine when she was 14 and settled in Deming in 1932. She married Walter Jacobus on Dec. 21, 1935. They had three children and lived in Sumas, Maple Falls, and Vancouver, Wash., before separating. She married Asa Clements in 1972. They enjoyed 20 happy years, particularly traveling together. He preceded her in death in January of this year. Survivors include sons Gerald Jacobus and Byron Jacobus, and daughter Irene Pevey and six grand-children and five great grandchildren all of Vancouver, Wash. Others are brothers Lawrence Martinson of Sedro-Woolley, Elmer Martinson of Nome, Alaska, and Cleon Martinson of Mountlake Terrace; sisters hazel Cloniger of Everett, Lucy Hamilton of Deming, and Laura Steiner, Mary Olivers and Elmas Martinson, all of Bellingham; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be held 7 (I assume they mean 7 pm) today in Vancouver, Wash.

Obituary of Helen Jacobus Clements w/o photo The Columbian Vancouver, Washington July 17, 1992 Helen Jacobus-Clements, 82, died Wednesday, July 15, in a Vancouver nursing home. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Jacobus-Clements, born Aug. 10, 1909 in Spokane, Washington, lived in Vancouver since 1942, last at 1106 N.E. 72nd St. She attended Rosemere Friends Church and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. Her husband, Asa Clements, died in January 1992. Survivors include one daugher, Irene Pevey of Vancouver; two sons, Gerald Jacobus and Byron Jacobus, both of Vancouver, three brothers Lawrence Martinson of Sedro Woolley, Wash., Elmer Martinson of Gnome, Alaska, and Cleon Martinson of Mount Lake Terrace, Wash.; five sisters, Hazel Cloninger of Everett, Lucy Hamilton of Deming, Wash., and Laura Steiner, Mary Olivers and Alma Martinson of Bellingham; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
