A Mother in Israel
Rebecca Eve Peters Caufield was born in Austintown, Mahoning County, Ohio, September 3, 1859 and died at her home north of Wilbur, May 10, 1913, aged 53 years 8 months, 7 days. When 12 years of age she joined the Christian Church, and was
faithful to her Master through her entire life.
September 16, 1885 she was married to David A. Caufield of Vienna Trumbull County, Ohio. In 1891 they came to Washington and settled north of Wilbur in which vicinity they have since lived.
Mrs. Caufield suffered a stroke of paralysis four months ago, other complications setting in later causing intense agony until death relieved her. She leaves, besides a husband to mourn her loss, eight children--three sons and five
daughters--all living; and one brother, Stanley C. Peters of Bridgeport, Washington; also a step mother, Mrs. Alfred Peters, living in Ohio.
The funeral service which was conducted by Edwin A. Balthis, pastor of the Christian Church, was held in the Larrick school house at 1 o'clock Monday, and the body laid at rest in the Wilbur cemetery.
The funeral was attended by a large concourse of friends.
