This community was shockede Monday afternoon when it was learned thatLewis
Swartz had died suddenly at his home at about 3:15. Death was caused by
cornory thrombosis. Mr. Swartz had been tearing down a garage at his homeand
was working on this when his death occurred. He was found by GeraldJohnson who
drove around past the building when he went to report for his bus driving
duties.He saw Mr. Swartz, who was also a driver, in the upper part of the
building and called to him. When received no answer he went toinvestigate and
found that death had apparently occurred only a few minutes before. Mr.Swartz
would have been 58 on the 29th of this month. Funeral services will beheld
from the Jeffers Funeral Chapel this Thursday afternoon at two o'clock.Mr.
Swartz had been a bus driver for the Jeffers public school continuouslysince
the fall of 1936 except for several weeks about a year ago when heunderwent
heart surgery.
He is survived by his wife Ida, two sons, Charles of Wessington, SouthDakota
and Stanley of Hastings Nebraska, one daughter Patricia Quade of Jeffers.There
are 12 grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters Mrs. Bernard (Coral)
Baker of Waterloo, Iowa, Mrs. Ray (Ethel) Smith of Bingham Lake, Mrs. Dick
(Bessie) Bollenbach of Loyal, Oklahoma, Mrs. Paul (Iris) Johnson ofHerson Lake
and Mrs. A.W. (Mabel) Nobleof Jeffers. Two brotehrs, Earl of Alexandriaand
Clair of Jeffers.
