FROM: Newspaper Obituary, no date George P. Swartz, well known resident died Sunday morning. Was a veteranof the Civil War and a respected citizen. George P. Swartz one ofMilton's oldest and most highly esteemed citizens died at his home onWalnut Street, Sunday morning of paralysis in the 78th year of his age.His funeral will take place from his late home on Thursday afternoon at 2o'clock. Interment will be made in the family lot in Harmony cemetary.George P. Swartz was born at New Berlin, Union Co in 1830. He was thelast surviving member of a family of 12 children. He spent his earlieryears at McEwensville and came to Milton when a young man and leanred thecarpenter trade, which occupation he followed during the active years ofhis life. In 1854-- 54 years ago- he was married to elizaTruckenmiller, who survives him together with 5 of the ten children whichblessed the union--George E of Chicato, Samuel T, W Grant and Harry ofNorfold, and Attorney Arthur L. Swartz of this place. The golden weddinganniversary of Mr & Mrs Swartz was celebrated quietly in 1904. Duringthe war of the rebellion, Mr. Swartz served his country as a member ofCompany E 74th regiment, Penna. Volunteers. He was a member of HenryWilson Post GAR. He was a life long member of St. John's Reformed Churchand his pastor, Rev. Henry Reagle will officiate at his funeral, whichwill be conducted by his comrades of the GAR and the Sons of Veterans.
